August 2007
Mud/Bone Collective was invited by the Public Theater to produce a segment of 365 Plays/365 Days which premiered at our Studio 889 in The Bronx and at The Public Theater in August 2007. Developed at Mud/Bone’s Studio 889 in the Bronx, our production took advantage of the unique architecture of the Studio and the evocative lighting design of resident lighting designer, Chris Brown. We partnered with chanteuse accordionist & vocalist Marni Rice to score our interpretation, which wove influences from The Tempest into Parks’ text to tell the story of a fallen king on a mystical island, a story about the loss of primitive, indigenous culture and the onslaught of capitalism and consumerism.
